How I rewrote my money story…

Hey there! I’m Danielle, wife of Lucas, mom of four amazing kids. I love Jesus, the Bible, and bringing women closer to Him, through telling the truth of God’s word. In 2016, I authored Created for This, a devotional for Christian business owners and entrepreneurs. Recently, I made myself official with an Associate of Arts degree in Biblical Studies. Needless to say, studying the Bible and bringing women sound biblical principles is a big deal for me, especially in the important area of finances.

For years I lived in a bad relationship with money.

11:35 pm would often find me rolling over in bed to check my phone, wondering if our bills would bounce. The anxiety and fear of not having enough kept me awake at night and pushing myself to take various jobs (oftentimes with the wrong people) just to calm myself over our lack of money in the bank.

I tried to use our money well, but often I’d buy things because I wanted that gratification and the satisfaction of hitting buy or walking out of the store. Also, being from the “frugal” midwest, there was usually a sale involved that I couldn’t pass up, even though we didn’t have the money.

This was my story for over nine years. My husband and I were poor when we got married, were on WIC once we had kids, and had mounting credit card debt, even after he got a great paying job six years in. I was desperate for a change and doing it on my own wasn’t working.

It was in 2018 that I started studying what the Bible said about money. Over the last few years, my heart has changed as I’ve encountered God’s words and biblical principles that I’ve taken to heart and put into action by memorizing scripture, trusting God, and allowing the truth about money to take root.

Today, we’re not completely debt-free (working on it), but I am less anxious, more generous with my resources, and have a better relationship with money. Because of what I’ve experienced with allowing God to change my heart and renew my money mindset, I want to help you.
